Juvederm Voluma XC
As you age, the cheeks may flatten and the skin may begin to sag. This is caused by natural loss of volume in the cheek area, or what the experts call age-related midface volume loss. Instantly restore lost volume in the cheeks and face with Juvederm Voluma ® XC. Volume is a major characteristic of a beautiful face – and it makes a world of difference in the appearance of your skin. Too little volume in the cheek area can make the face look sunken and exaggerate the look of fine lines. Fortunately, Juvederm can help restore your skin’s youthful plumpness and give you beautiful, natural-looking results. Juvederm Voluma® XC is designed to add volume beneath the skin’s surface, which provides lift and contour to the cheek area to create a more youthful appearance for up to 2 years with optimal treatment.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I expect?
Your practitioner will evaluate your face from many angles – looking at your deep wrinkles and creases, as well as volume deficits seen with aging. It’s important to discuss what areas bother you with the practitioner so they can explain how the filler will work to correct that area. Sometimes, the filler needs to be injected above or below the area of concern to achieve the optimal result. As an example, with Voluma, injecting in the midface/cheek area helps improve the nasolabial lines around the mouth and also the tear through area under the eyes.
What areas of the face can be treated with Juvederm?
The most common areas are the cheeks, the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Juvederm Voluma® XC, the newest of the fillers, even has a lifting effect when injected in the midface and also resists swelling often seen in other fillers.
How does it work?
The Juvederm family of fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers that differ in concentration of (HA) and bonding between the (HA) molecules. The bonding and concentration gives the products different properties for injecting based on location and depth of the tissue.
Are you a good candidate for this procedure?
If the skin on your face appears to be thin and sunken, low levels of hyaluronic acid could be to blame. Your body is comprised of a number of cells, and this substance naturally exists in between them, giving your skin a firm, youthful appearance. As you age, the substance gradually decreases, slowly depleting your face of moisture and volume. Combined with other factors, this can cause an increase in the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Juvederm Voluma® XC can be injected into the cheek to restore their natural suppleness. A fine needle targets the area to boost their volume and beautifully contour the face. In a matter of minutes, your skin is restored to a firm, plump state. Your face will be more defined and instantly appear more youthful. There’s zero downtime, and you can immediately continue on with your day.
Is it painful?
Juvederm® injectable gels labeled with “XC” contain pain-reducing lidocaine to help manage pain or discomfort during the injection. You may also ask your aesthetic healthcare provider about a topical numbing cream or ice to help further minimize discomfort.
When will I see results?
You will see results immediately. One of the biggest advantages of Restylane is the brevity of treatment. In mere minutes, you’ll notice plumper skin, and you can walk out of TLC looking younger than you did on the way in. Following your first treatment, which will take less than an hour, you’ll see beautiful results, but you may wish to schedule more, depending on your goals. The treatments that follow should be even shorter in duration and require less of the substance.
Is this a powerful treatment option?
Juvederm Voluma® XC adds volume to the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss in adults over 21.
Is this easier than surgery?
Unlike surgical procedures that require longer recovery times, Juvederm is an alternative with no downtime, allowing you to recover immediately with minimal discomfort or side effects.
How many treatments will you need?
Juvederm Voluma® XC lasts up to 2 years. This is the longest lasting HA filler. It’s important to note that the filler does not last that entire time and then immediately disappear. It slowly metabolizes over time. So patients often return in half that time for maintenance treatments.
How quickly will I recover?
Recovery time is typically not long. However, since everyone is different, it is best to discuss. Treatment requires minimal downtime or recovery. You’ll be able to go about your normal routine immediately after you leave our office.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are rare, and they’re even less likely to happen when you seek the help of a trusted medical or nursing professional, like those at TLC. The most common side effects included temporary reactions at the treatment site such as tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching. Side effects may be moderate (uncomfortable), and generally last 2 to 4 weeks. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection. Some risks include redness, tenderness and swelling at the injection site.
